A fantastic wedding at Pretty Place Chapel overlooking SC and a great reception at Tablerock Lodge just off of the Cherokee Scenic Highway in SC. Crystal and Greg were a fantastic bride and groom and they had a great time, as did the entire wedding party! Congratulations for the beautiful couple!

Pretty Place Chapel is actually properly known as Fred W. Symmes Chapel and is one of the structures on the property of YMCA Camp Greenville. Pretty Place was constructed in 1941 and had upgrades as recently as 2012. The chapel derives its name from its amazing view of Upstate South Carolina. It definitely makes for beautiful wedding photography!
Pretty Place is located at YMCA Camp Greenville – more info here YMCA of Greenville. Camp Greenville was started in 1912. Not only does it serve as a wedding venue, but it is a center for environmental education, a summer camp, and conference center location.

Table Rock Lodge is one of the most alluring and picturesque wedding venues in Upstate South Carolina and the Asheville NC area. It is a large and beautiful lodge that is perfect for weddings with its fireplaces, chapel qualities, balconies, rocking chairs, and other perfect touches of style. They have a large dining area and catering area that works great for wedding reception service. Outdoors at Table Rock Lodge there is a large patio area with a view of majestic Table Rock Mtn – awesome for wedding photography. It is large enough for weddings and receptions!
These are great wedding venues and awesome locations for wedding photography near Asheville!
I plan to photograph a few weddings at these locations in 2015. Shooting can be challenging at Pretty Place when positioned under the large canopy structure. The backlighting can be tough to deal with, especially on a very sunny day. Trust me, there are tons of sunny days in a Blue Ridge Mountain summer. It is very important to try to set up some off camera lighting somewhere in the venue, but it must be done inconspicuously, as we don’t want huge flashes in the middle of the pews! So sometimes I will add a light in the front corners and try to bounce it and give some equilibrium to the scene. Challenges aside, it is always a beautiful and fun place and I always fell fortunate to photograph at such a great location!
